Second Bowl offers short-term pet food help for families going through a hard time. Owners can request assistance through the pantry's online application.

Full Bowl Pet Food Bank Inc.

Full Bowl supplies pet food to North Texas households in need so that people and the pets they love can stay together.

Free Online Rehoming Services

National rehoming websites let you find a new home for your dog safely, reliably and at no cost.

Urban Tails Rescue Guest Listings

If you rescued a dog on your own or need to find your pet a new home, Urban Tails Rescue can list the animal on the group's website through its guest listing program and lets you bring the dog to its adoption events.

Searchable Adoption Listings

Online adoption databases let families search for animals who need homes across the region and the country.

Direct Rehoming Between Families

Owners who can no longer care for a pet can use direct rehoming programs to place the animal in a new, loving home without ever surrendering it to a shelter; the pet moves straight from one household to the next.

FVAS also shares pets in need of new homes on its website and social media pages.

Tips if You Find a Pet

Follow these steps to give a found pet the best chance of getting back to its family:

  • Take the animal to a nearby veterinary clinic to be scanned for a microchip.
  • Submit a found pet report through the Lost or Found a Pet page.
  • List the pet as found on neighborhood apps, online classifieds and local lost-and-found pet groups on social media.
  • Put up flyers near the spot where you found the pet.
