Owners reclaiming an impounded animal from the Fredville Paws Adoption Center pay an impoundment fee based on the type of animal and how many times it has been impounded.
Impoundment Fees by Class
| Animal class | First | Second | Third | Fourth and later |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Class A: spayed or neutered dogs and cats | $35 | $45 | $55 | $65 |
| Class B: dogs and cats that are not spayed or neutered | $55 | $65 | $75 | $85 |
| Class C: domestic (non-exotic) fowl | $25 | $35 | $45 | $55 |
| Class D: wild animals, charged per animal | $35 | $45 | $55 | $65 |
In every class, once an animal has been impounded more than four times within 12 months, each further impoundment is charged at the fourth-impoundment rate.
Daily Handling Fee
A handling fee applies for each day, or part of a day, that an animal stays at the shelter: $12 a day for Class A and B animals and $16 a day for Class C and D animals.
ID Tags
Pets must wear both a current rabies tag and an identification tag at all times, as required by law. The ID tag is a small metal or plastic tag clipped to your pet's collar that shows your name, address and phone number.
Missing ID Tag Fee
Dogs and cats must wear an ID tag listing the owner's name, address and phone number. An animal that comes into the shelter without one is charged a $12 fee.
Microchip Fee
Before a reclaimed dog or cat can leave the shelter, it has to be microchipped. The $20 microchip fee includes registering the chip.
