City Manager Marcus Hale

Marcus Hale serves as Fredville's City Manager. The City Council appointed him to lead the organization after several years as one of the city's deputy city managers.

Role

As City Manager, Hale carries out the policies set by the Mayor and City Council, prepares the annual budget for the Council's review and oversees the departments that deliver city services every day. He works closely with Deputy City Managers Nora Whitaker and Elise Tran and Managing Director Joan Pike.

Career

Hale has spent most of his public-service career in Fredville. He joined the city as a management analyst in the budget office and went on to hold leadership roles in public works and development services, where he focused on faster permitting, better customer service and long-range infrastructure planning. As deputy city manager, he oversaw a group of operating departments and several citywide improvement initiatives.

Within the organization, he has served on many employee committees and process improvement teams, and he is known for encouraging staff to look for simpler ways to serve residents.

Education and Interests

Hale holds a degree in public administration and takes part in professional associations for local government managers. Away from City Hall, he enjoys time with his family and can often be found at community events and on Fredville's trails.
