Faulty Weather Protection

What Counts as a Violation

When code officers inspect a home or business, they look at the main building as well as any detached accessory structures on the lot. A structure is cited for faulty weather protection if an officer can see any of the following:

  • Bare or exposed wood
  • Rotting wood
  • Widespread peeling paint
  • Rust on exterior surfaces
  • Broken windows
  • Worn-out or loose shingles
  • Siding or other exterior coverings that are missing or coming loose

This standard comes from the property maintenance provisions of the Fredville Code of Ordinances. To report a property, contact Code Compliance.
