Fire Station 7 first opened on Tamarind Road in the late 1970s. Years later the station moved to a lakeside city operations building, where firefighters work side by side with Parks and Recreation staff and the Fredville Police Lake Unit. The move improved coverage for Bluestem Lake and the southern part of the city.
Station 7 is the base for the Fire Department's Public Safety Dive Team, so its crews include firefighters certified in dive operations. Battalion Chief 2 also works out of this station. The station houses a battalion chief vehicle, an engine, an ambulance, a dive unit, a fire boat and a rescue boat.
