Fredville is a partner in the regional clean-air campaign led by the regional council of governments, which works to improve air quality across the Dallas-Fort Worth area by building public awareness.
Each year, the region's clean air awareness day asks everyone in the community to take at least one step that helps the air we breathe.
Why the Challenge Matters
Ten counties in the region currently fall short of the federal ozone standard set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a status known as nonattainment. That designation brings extra restrictions for businesses that hold air permits and is estimated to cost the regional economy billions of dollars in lost output every year.
How the Challenge Works
The City of Fredville invites local businesses to take concrete steps to cut air pollution. Participating companies:
- Urge staff members to sign the Clear Skies Pledge.
- Start or adopt fresh clean-air efforts that get staff involved, such as a prize patrol, an employee art contest or a weekly clean-air email.
- Complete the Clear Skies Business Challenge application (DOCX, 1 MB) and send it to [email protected] no later than Friday, June 5, 2026, the region's annual clean air awareness day.
Challenge Rules
- Ask staff members to commit to the Clear Skies Pledge.
- Launch or adopt creative clean-air initiatives that boost employee participation.
Recognition
Every participating business is recognized at the city's annual Environmental Compliance Meeting, and the top business receives an award.
