Childcare Permits

Fredville's Health and Environment Department permits every child care facility that meets the state's minimum standards for day care operations and for day care food service.

Which permit do I need?

A child care center, also called a day care center, is a commercial site where children younger than 14 receive care and supervision. Every center needs a Childcare Center Permit, and a center that serves food also needs a Childcare Food Service Permit.

A child care family home is the caregiver's own primary residence. A family home may care for up to six children under age 14 plus up to six more school-age children, with no more than 12 children in total at any one time, counting the caregiver's own children. Each family home needs a Childcare Registered Family Home Permit.

Applying for a center permit

Commercial facilities that care for and supervise children under 14 should submit an application for a Childcare Center Permit.

Applying for a family home permit

Caregivers who look after children in their own primary residence should submit an application for a Childcare Family Home Permit.
