About the Texas Stream Team
The Texas Stream Team is a statewide network of trained volunteers and supporting partners who collect data on the state's natural resources and make that information open to everyone in Texas.
The water quality data these partners gather gives local and state resource managers the sound science they need for good decisions. After training, a volunteer only has to set aside about an hour each month to check on a stream of his or her choosing.
Why Become a Stream Team Monitor?
- It is a great way for a group or workplace to build teamwork.
- It helps your organization take real steps toward going green.
- It gives your group a strong public relations opportunity.
- You learn about your local environment while gathering real scientific data that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality relies on.
