Dental Coverage
Retiree dental coverage comes through the city's dental insurance carrier, and you can choose between two plans: a dental HMO (DHMO) or a PPO. The PPO gives you more freedom, since you may see dentists outside the network, although in-network visits cost you less. The DHMO keeps you inside its network and asks you to name a primary dentist, but in return its premiums and out-of-pocket costs are lower.
