Medical Coverage
Retiree medical insurance is managed by the city's medical plan administrator. Retirees can choose between two options: a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) or a Copay Plan. Each one is an Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO), so neither plan pays for care received outside the network. Both give you access to a broad, nationwide network of doctors and other medical providers.
Prescription coverage also runs through the plan administrator, working with the plan's pharmacy benefit manager, and members can fill prescriptions at a large national network of pharmacies. Ongoing medications in 90-day supplies cost less when ordered through a mail-order pharmacy program.
