Step 1. Know the Requirements
Under Fredville's alarm ordinance, part of the city's Code of Ordinances, anyone operating a residential, commercial or multi-family alarm system in the city must hold an active alarm permit. Financial institutions are permitted under a separate category.
What residents and businesses should know:
- Every alarm site needs its own permit, and burglar alarms and fire alarms are permitted separately.
- Individuals, homeowners, businesses and corporations must obtain a permit before the system is put into use.
- Operating an active alarm system without a city permit violates the ordinance.
- A permit cannot be transferred to another person, company or location. Anyone moving into a home or business must apply for a new permit, even if the earlier owner or occupant held one.
- Permits must be renewed every year.
Step 2. Apply
You can apply online, or print the alarm permit application (PDF), complete it and turn it in by mail or in person.
- In person: Alarm Permits Office, Irene Jessup Municipal Court Building, 120 Civic Center Drive, Fredville, TX 75999. Open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Friday through Sunday.
