Sports Facilities Development Corporation

The Sports Facilities Development Corporation works to promote economic development in Fredville and across Texas, with the aim of eliminating unemployment and underemployment. Under the Development Corporation Act of 1979 in the Texas Revised Civil Statutes, it supports jobs and the public welfare by developing, carrying out and funding Brightfield Downs, the city's events park, along with related projects. The corporation may cover project costs by issuing or executing bonds, notes and other kinds of debt.

Members

The corporation has seven members. Four are members of the city council, and the other three must come from outside the council. The mayor and council members submit nominations based on qualifications, and the council reaches a consensus on appointments.
