Before you put up, build, attach, move or structurally change a permanent sign, the Building Inspections Division must first approve a permit for the work.
Step 1. Review Requirements
You will need to supply the following before a sign permit can be issued:
- The project address, the square footage and a description of the work
- The kind of sign, for example a wall, roof, pole or ground monument sign, a canopy or awning sign, a directional or multi-tenant sign, a balloon, a billboard, a mural or an LED message board
- The material used for the sign face
- Installation details, including the number of faces, the size of the sign and whether it is electrically lit
- Note: review the installation requirements for unlisted equipment (PDF, 111 KB).
Step 2. Apply Online
Sign permit applications are filed through the City of Fredville's online permit portal. New users need a working email address to sign up, and opening an account takes roughly five minutes.
What Happens Next
Once your online application is complete, permits usually take about 5 to 10 business days to process. Review may take longer if the applicant needs to make changes or send more information.
