Fire Department
Fire department staff keep Fredville residents, visitors and businesses safe through fire prevention work, emergency response and pre-hospital medical care. Their goal is to protect quality of life by cutting down on injuries and property losses, and to do so quickly, dependably and courteously.
Floodplain and Stormwater
More than 11,500 acres of Fredville lie in the floodplain, and the city takes part in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program. Find details on building in the floodplain, the citywide drainage master plan, flood insurance rate maps and other topics on the Floodplain page.
The city's real-time stream gauge data shows rainfall, water levels and weather conditions as they happen. During storms you can use it to check whether creeks are rising and local roads have been closed.
The Engineering Division oversees drainage and erosion control. It reviews drainage plans submitted with building permits and development projects, keeps the city's standard construction details current, and looks into complaints about drainage, erosion and construction-site pollution.
The Environmental Quality Division teaches residents how to protect local watersheds. Topics include stream monitoring, getting rid of cooking oil and pet waste properly, and using lawn chemicals with care.
To meet Environmental Protection Agency rules under the federal Clean Water Act, Fredville runs a Stormwater Management Program that works to find and remove, as far as practical, the pollutants stormwater carries into creeks.
