Right of Way and Property Management

What the Office Does

This office manages real estate matters for the City of Fredville, including:

  • Buying the rights-of-way and easements needed for city projects
  • Buying land for new city facilities and parks
  • Selling city-owned real property the city no longer needs
  • Selling tax-foreclosed properties that were struck off to the city after a tax sale (see the current bid solicitation for these properties)
  • Abandoning city rights-of-way, including streets and alleys, and city easements. An easement reserved for one franchised utility, such as electric or natural gas service, has to be released through that utility instead.
  • Issuing licenses and access permits that allow private parties to use city property

Abandonment Procedures and Easement Licenses

The office reviews three kinds of requests:

Right-of-Way Easement Abandonment

Review the requirements and application steps for abandoning a right-of-way easement.

Right-of-Way Alley Abandonment

Review the requirements and application steps for abandoning an alley.

Easement and Right-of-Way License

Review the requirements and application steps for a right-of-way license.
