Permit Required Before Work Begins
Every home rehabilitation project needs a building permit from the Building Inspections Division before any repair work starts. Contractors are expected to follow every state law, city ordinance and adopted building code that applies to the job.
Step 1. Gather the Required Information
Have these details ready before you apply for a residential rehabilitation permit:
- The project address and its legal description
- Contact details for the property owner, the contractor and any architect
- How the space will be used, plus the square footage and area affected
- The class of work, a short description, the job valuation and the property's market value
- A scope of work
- A floor plan that labels every room with its intended use and square footage and shows the exits
Step 2. Submit Your Application Online
Building permit applications are filed through the City of Fredville's online permit portal. New users need a working email address to register, and setting up an account takes roughly five minutes.
After You Apply
Most online applications are reviewed within 5 to 10 business days. If staff need corrections or more information from you, approval may take longer.
