Volunteer with Fredville Animal Services
We're so glad you're thinking about volunteering at the Fredville Paws Adoption Center, run by Fredville Animal Services (FVAS). Our shelter depends on kind, committed and hardworking volunteers, and every day they make life better for animals waiting for a home.
Volunteers help out in all kinds of ways, including:
- Cleaning and caring for kennels
- Walking and exercising pets
- Training animals
- Socializing animals
- Offering enrichment activities that keep pets' minds busy
- Helping pets get matched with loving families
- Fostering animals that need extra time or care
- Teaching the community about responsible pet ownership and treating animals kindly
- Lending a hand at FVAS community and fundraising events
Every volunteer must sign up in advance and complete an orientation session. Orientation covers the history of FVAS, the shelter's programs and services, and the basics of handling animals safely.
The volunteer handbook is available from the shelter.

Young Paws Club
Ages 14 and Younger
Kids who are not yet old enough to volunteer can still make a difference for FVAS animals through our Young Paws Club program.
Children can take part on their own by raising money, making toys for shelter pets, gathering donations from our wish list and more. Ask the shelter for a Young Paws Club application.
For Groups
School classes, sports teams, scout troops and other youth groups are welcome in the Young Paws Club too. Groups can support FVAS by fundraising, running wish list donation drives and making toys for the animals. When staff time allows, a team member can also visit your group to talk about shelter animals and teach kids the right way to greet a dog or cat.
Request a Tour
We love having visitors! To arrange a children's tour of the Fredville Paws Adoption Center, email the Animal Services events coordinator at [email protected]. Tours run about an hour, and we suggest groups of no more than 15 at a time.
Group Volunteer Opportunities
Businesses, civic clubs and other service groups looking for a meaningful project can volunteer together at the Fredville Paws Adoption Center. Typical group projects include special events such as a lemonade stand at the shelter, donation drives and maintenance work around the facility.
Please note that group volunteers do not handle or work directly with the shelter animals.
Because large groups require planning, contact us at least 30 days ahead. We can't promise an on-site project will be available, but we will do our best to match our needs with your group's interests.
Questions, or need help hosting an event? Reach out to us anytime.
Facility tours can be arranged as well.
