Some birds, especially crows and blue jays, can carry West Nile virus. When residents report dead birds, Health and Environment can track where the virus may be active and focus mosquito control where it is needed most.
How to Report
- Submit a report online or through the Fredville mobile app.
- Call 311, or reach Health and Environment directly at (555) 010-1128.
Please tell us where you found the bird, when you saw it and what kind of bird it appears to be.
Handling a Dead Bird Safely
- Never pick up a dead bird with your bare hands.
- Wear disposable gloves or use a shovel, seal the bird in two plastic bags and place it in your garbage cart.
- Wash your hands thoroughly afterward.
