Community Gardens
Through the Keep Fredville Beautiful Community Garden program, people who live or work in Fredville can raise their own vegetables while building their gardening skills.
Joining is free at any of the program's six garden sites, and monthly classes cover a range of topics to help your plot flourish.
Reach the program at [email protected] or (555) 010-6427, and learn more about the Community Garden program.

- Shredding is free, though a $5 donation to Fredville Crime Stoppers is suggested.
- Each household may bring up to three boxes of personal documents.
- Papers from businesses or industry cannot be accepted.
Questions about shredding days can go to (555) 010-3877.
Kestrel Creek Experiential Gardens
At the Kestrel Creek Nature Center, the exhibition garden is a joint project of the City of Fredville and Fredville ISD. Working with an on-site environmental science teacher, students learn about the natural world and the effect people have on it. Every student in the district visits the garden at least once each school year.
Rainwater Harvesting Classes
Offered by the Public Works and Environmental Services departments
In the hands-on Build Your Own Rain Barrel class, residents assemble their own rain barrel from a large plastic drum, a handful of parts and basic tools, then take it home to catch rainwater for gardens and lawns. The fee, which covers all supplies, is $35 for Fredville residents and $50 for non-residents.
To find out when the next class meets, call (555) 010-6782 or visit the Rain Barrel Class page.
TreeKeepers Community Forestry
Offered by Keep Fredville Beautiful
TreeKeepers classes cover native trees that grow well in Fredville soils; how to plant, prune and look after trees; the city's street tree planting program; and ways to volunteer.
For the next class date, call (555) 010-5916 or email [email protected].
Water Wise Tours
Offered by the Public Works Department
Civic and school groups can arrange tours of several city water wise demonstration gardens. One garden, at 310 Brambleton Hill Drive, offers a brochure map that leads visitors along paths of attractive native and adapted plants that need little water, and signs identify each plant shown on the map.
The city has also landscaped several of its water well sites in residential neighborhoods with water wise plants. These plantings need less water, fertilizer and pesticide, and they make the sites a better fit for the surrounding blocks.
To schedule a tour, call (555) 010-6782.
