FredText is the City of Fredville's two-way text messaging service. It gives residents a quick way to get city information and report problems just by sending a text.
How to Use FredText
To begin, send the word Hi to (555) 010-3888. The service will reply and ask you to text a keyword that matches what you need, for example POTHOLE, PERMITS, WATER BILL, CODE VIOLATION, BRUSH PICKUP, MISSED GARBAGE COLLECTION or ELECTIONS.
FredText costs nothing to use, although your carrier's usual message and data rates still apply. There is no account to set up and no app to install.
Sign Up for Text Alerts
You can also choose to get citywide alerts by text. Send the keyword FREDVILLE to the city's text-alert short code to join the notification list.
Alerts are optional, and you can leave the list whenever you like by texting STOP to the same short code.
What to Expect
- Once you text the keyword to join, you will get a confirmation message. Reply YES to confirm that you want alerts.
- Expect several alerts in a typical month. Topics can include upcoming events, delays in garbage collection, road closures and severe storm warnings.
- Text STOP at any time and you will be taken off the list.
The terms of use and privacy policy for the service are available from the city on request.
