About the Program
The Texas Stream Team brings together trained volunteers and partner organizations who collect data on the state's natural resources and make that information available to every Texan.
The water quality readings partners gather help local and state resource managers make decisions grounded in sound science. After training, a volunteer needs only about an hour each month to sample a stream site of their choosing.
Why Become a Volunteer Monitor?
- Monitoring as a group builds teamwork.
- It is a practical step toward making your organization greener.
- Serving as a monitor shows the community your organization cares.
- Your readings feed real science that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality relies on, and you learn about your local environment at the same time.
