The Engineering Division sets the standards for, and issues permits to, franchised utility providers such as electric, telephone, gas and cable television companies that place facilities in city right-of-way or easements. Engineering staff confirm that these facilities are placed correctly inside the right-of-way, and that the disturbed area is restored to an acceptable condition once the work is done.
Step 1. Review the Requirements
Any work that closes a traffic lane needs a Traffic Control Plan released by the city, and that plan must be turned in along with your notification. The Franchise Utility Permit Form (PDF) lists the full requirements.
Step 2. Apply
Complete the Franchise Utility Permit Form (PDF) and email it to [email protected] or drop it off at the Engineering Department. For questions, call (555) 010-7557.
