Residential Manufactured and Mobile Homes

Manufactured and Mobile Home Permits

A manufactured home is a single-family dwelling built to the federal construction and safety standards for manufactured housing that HUD has administered since 1976, commonly called the HUD Code. A mobile home is a factory-built dwelling made before June 15, 1976, under standards other than the HUD Code. Every manufactured or mobile home placed in Fredville, no matter its size, needs a permit approved by the Building Inspections Division.

Step 1: Gather What You Need

Have these items ready before the permit can be issued:

  • The project address and its legal description
  • Contact details for the owner and for any contractor or architect working on the project
  • The square footage and the area affected by the work
  • The class of work, a description of any electrical, plumbing or mechanical work, the project valuation and the market value of the property
  • A site plan showing the property lines, any existing easements, where the home will sit, its dimensions, and its distance from the property lines and from other structures
  • Specifications listing building materials and the home's height, length and width
  • A sample plot plan for manufactured and mobile homes is available from the division (PDF)

Step 2: Apply Online

Building permit applications are filed through Fredville's online permitting portal. New users create an account with a working email address, which takes roughly five minutes.

After You Apply

Most applications are reviewed within 5 to 10 business days. If the reviewer asks you for corrections or more information, approval can take longer.
