Automated gates now guard the low-water crossing on Wrenfield Parkway between Garnet Road to the north and Yucca Court to the south. When Sweetgum Creek spills over the roadway near Dunmore Park West, the gates come down and stop traffic in both directions on Wrenfield Parkway. As they lower, the gates flash warning lights and sound an alarm.
If you find yourself trapped between the two gates while driving between Garnet Road and Yucca Court, don't panic. Follow these steps.
1. Drive toward a gate.
Head slowly uphill toward the lowered gate until you trip the sensor mounted on it.
2. Wait.
Stay put while the gate lifts.
3. Leave the area.
Keep driving away from the flooded section. The gate opens to let you through and lowers again once you are clear.
