Mosquito Spraying Schedule

When and Where Spraying Happens

The City of Fredville keeps watch for West Nile virus by routinely trapping and testing mosquitoes from neighborhoods across the city. When a sample comes back positive, the city schedules spraying in the neighborhood where it was collected. From April through October, spraying in positive areas takes place on Wednesday and Thursday nights beginning at 9 p.m., as weather allows. Whenever samples test positive for a mosquito-borne illness, details and a map of the area to be sprayed are posted at the top of this page.

How will I know if my neighborhood is being sprayed?

Upcoming spray areas always appear at the top of this page. To get an email whenever a new location is added, use the "subscribe to this page" option at the bottom.

Residents can also register for phone alerts through AlertFV, the city's emergency notification system, which calls subscribers who live in the affected areas.

The city also announces upcoming spray locations on its official social media accounts.

What should I do if my neighborhood is sprayed?

If your area is on the schedule, stay inside during spraying hours, bring pets indoors and cover any fish ponds. Spraying is postponed when it rains or when winds are stronger than 10 mph.

Every resident can help by getting rid of places where mosquitoes breed. Empty, remove or cover anything outdoors that can collect water.

To avoid bites, wear an insect repellent with at least 30 percent DEET (use a lower strength for children) and stay inside around dawn and dusk.
