About the Permit
Commercial paving, such as new driveways and sidewalks at commercial properties, must be built and kept up to the standards of the Unified Development Code, the International Property Maintenance Code and the city's Code of Ordinances. The Building Inspections Division must approve a permit before any commercial paving work begins.
Step 1. Review Requirements
Have the following ready before applying for a commercial paving permit:
- The project address and its legal description
- Contact information for the owner, contractor and/or architect
- Planned use, square footage and the area affected
- Class of work, a description of the work, the project valuation and the property's market value
- A site plan that shows:
- The property lines
- Any existing easements
- Where the new paving will go
- Paving specifications, such as slab thickness and rebar
Step 2. Apply Online
Commercial paving permits are requested through the city's online permit portal. If this is your first time, set up an account using a valid email address; it only takes about five minutes.
What next?
Expect processing to take about 5 to 10 business days after you submit. If staff need corrections or more information from you, approval may take longer.
