Clear Skies Business Challenge
Fredville has joined forces with the regional clean-air campaign, an awareness effort led by the regional council of governments that aims to improve air quality across the Dallas-Fort Worth area by educating the public.
Each year, the region's clean air awareness day asks everyone in the community to take at least one step that helps the air we all breathe.
Why a Challenge?
Ten counties in the DFW area fall short of the national ozone standard set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which places them in "nonattainment." That status affects local businesses that hold air permits, brings extra limits on how they operate, and is estimated to cost about $270 billion in lost economic output every year.
How the Challenge Works
The City of Fredville invites local companies to help cut air pollution. Participating businesses can:
- Ask employees to sign the clean air pledge.
- Launch or adopt new clean air efforts that get staff involved, such as a prize patrol, an employee art contest or a weekly clean air email.
- Fill out a Clear Skies Business Challenge application for the business and email it to [email protected] no later than the region's annual clean air awareness day, Friday, June 5, 2026.
Challenge Rules
Get as many employees as possible to sign the Clear Skies Pledge.
Come up with, or borrow, creative new clean air activities that motivate staff to take part.
The application form can be downloaded as a Word document.
Recognition
Every participating business is recognized at the city's annual Environmental Compliance Meeting, and the top entry receives an award.
