Construction General Permit BMP FAQ

About the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

TCEQ is the state agency that sets the rules for stormwater runoff from construction sites. It also issues the general permit that covers construction activity throughout Texas, and its permit forms can be downloaded.

Does the Permit Apply to My Project?

Whether a construction project is regulated depends on how much land it disturbs. A site that disturbs one acre or more must have coverage under the general permit. A site disturbing less than an acre is regulated as well, and also needs coverage, when it is one piece of a bigger common plan of development that will disturb at least an acre in total.
