Downtown Revitalization

A New Era for the Heart of Fredville

Big changes are coming to downtown Fredville. Starting in 2025, the city will roll out a series of improvements in phases, with the goal of making downtown livelier, easier to walk and more inviting while respecting its historic charm. The work will upgrade public spaces and infrastructure and lay the groundwork for new development that strengthens local businesses and community life.

The phases are scheduled through 2029 so that disruption stays as limited as possible while residents, visitors and business owners gain lasting benefits.

Main Street, West of City Hall

The former Larkspur Chapel site: Preparation of the property runs from late 2025 into mid-2027. Readying the site opens the door to future projects along Main Street, which could include new shops and restaurants, public gathering areas or mixed-use buildings that add to downtown's energy.

City Hall Green Space

Location: south of City Hall. Beginning in late 2025, the city will upgrade this public gathering spot with:

  • An outdoor stage for concerts, festivals and other community events
  • The return of the Fredville Liberty Bell, displayed with a new commemorative plaque
  • New shade structures so the space is comfortable in every season

With these additions, the green space will become a focal point for activity downtown.

Main Street Improvements

Through the downtown core: Among the largest pieces of the effort, this phase is scheduled from 2027 into 2029 and includes:

  • Moving underground utilities and completely rebuilding the roadway
  • Reducing Main Street to two lanes, one in each direction
  • Broader sidewalks and added features for people on foot

The goal is a safer, more walkable street that welcomes shoppers, diners and visitors.

Calloway Street Reconstruction

From the state highway to Tumbleweed Bend Trail: Work is expected to start in late 2026 and finish in 2027, giving this important downtown corridor a longer-lasting roadway and smoother traffic flow.

Calloway and Main Street Roundabout

A new roundabout east of downtown, where Calloway Street meets Main Street, will help steer heavy trucks away from the downtown core.

  • Start of construction: early 2027
  • Expected completion: 2028

A signature public art piece at the roundabout will greet people as they arrive in downtown Fredville.

A More Connected Downtown

Taken together, these projects form a complete strategy for revitalizing downtown: better ways to get around, improved public spaces and fresh opportunities for economic growth. Each finished phase will help downtown Fredville become a more attractive, useful and community-centered place.
