Keep Fredville Beautiful (KFB) runs on the energy of residents who donate their time. With their help, Fredville stays clean, green and inviting for everyone who lives, works and plays here. Pick the program below that suits you best.
Adopt-A-Street
Some city roadways still have no adopter, and we need helpers to collect litter along their shoulders. KFB hands out all the gear you will need.
You can also take on a stretch of road of your own. Adopters agree to clean their segment four times each year and must turn in reports for at least three of those cleanups. Each outing covers both sides of the roadway, any medians, and the strip within 12 feet behind the curb.
Adopt-A-Stream
The Sorrel River and the creeks that feed it wind through Fredville, giving native wildlife a place to live and giving residents spots to fish and paddle. Trash can foul these waters, and most of it is plastic bottles, plastic bags and foam cups. Crews call this debris "floatables," since nearly all of it rides on the surface where everyone can see it. Stream cleanups run each year from the middle of October to the middle of March, and volunteers are welcome at every one.
Adopt-A-Cemetery
Residents, local businesses, clubs and civic groups partner with the city to keep Fredville's cemeteries tidy and well cared for. A typical workday means gathering litter and hauling away fallen limbs.
Fredville Litter Team
The Fredville Litter Team keeps city events clean. Volunteers sign up for shifts and help guests sort their trash so it lands in the proper container.
KFB Public Outreach and Events
Enjoy growing things? Staff a table at a special event or lend a hand at one of the community gardens, and help us bring new gardeners into the fold.
Storm Drain Labeling
Storm drains do not lead to a treatment plant. Whatever enters them flows straight into our creeks, so anything other than rainwater becomes pollution. Many people are surprised to learn this. Volunteers place markers on drains to spread the word about creek health and storm water pollution. To label a drain on your block, call (555) 010-4202.
Texas Stream Team
Fredville's Texas Stream Team volunteers study and safeguard local waterways. Residents, students, teachers and environmental professionals work side by side collecting water-quality data and encouraging good care of the environment.
