Demolition Permits for Commercial Property

No one may tear down a structure, or any portion of one, or start demolition work until the Building Inspections Division has issued a demolition permit.

Non-residential work in Fredville must meet these codes: the 2021 editions of the International Building, Plumbing, Fuel Gas, Mechanical, Energy Conservation and Residential Codes, and the 2023 National Electrical Code. Step 1: Gather What You Need

Submit these items before a demolition permit can be issued:

• An asbestos abatement survey (PDF)
• The project address and legal description
• Contact information for the owner and any contractor or architect
• The planned use, square footage and area affected
• The class of work, a description of electrical, plumbing and mechanical work, the project valuation and the property's market value
• A site plan or floor plan marking where the work will take place
• A completed commercial demolition questionnaire (PDF)

Step 2: Apply Online

Apply through Fredville's online permitting portal. First-time users need a valid email address to open an account; setup takes about five minutes.

After You Apply

Review usually takes 5 to 10 business days. Requests for corrections or more information from the applicant can stretch that timeline.
