Online Permit Processing Notice
The online permitting portal processes applications on a first-come, first-served basis. Each one is sent to the departments that need to review it for code compliance.
The city works to finish reviews within the established timelines, which are noted on each submittal. Building Inspections reviews usually take between 5 and 14 business days, not counting holidays, depending on the project. The overall time to get a permit depends on the type of permit, which departments must review it, and how complete and accurate your documents are.
24-Hour Inspection Request Process
Everyone listed as a contact on a permit can use the permitting portal to view plans, schedule inspections, check results, upload documents and more.
- Requests made before 7 a.m. can be scheduled for the same day; requests made after 7 a.m. are scheduled for the next business day.
- We aim to complete every inspection when requested, but heavy workloads, bad weather or other unexpected issues sometimes push an inspection to the next business day. When that happens, we try to let the requester know about the change.
- Office and inspection hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on published city holidays. Please have your permit number and project address ready when you call.
- For sites within 300 feet of a residential area, construction is limited to the hours of 6 a.m. through 10 p.m. under the city's Code of Ordinances.
Under the city's development code, no use or activity may create intense glare or direct light that crosses the property line and becomes a nuisance.
