Landfill Policies
Only Fredville residents and businesses may use the landfill. Bring both of the following:
- A current Texas driver's license showing a Fredville address
- A Fredville water utility bill for the same address as the license
Households hauling their own residential loads get six free loads each year by showing a current Fredville water bill (one that is no more than 30 days past its due date). Every load after the sixth costs $12.
Bills marked with a termination notice (printed with red lines) are not accepted. Without a current Fredville water bill, or once the six free loads are used up, each load costs $12.
Paperless customers, meaning those who do not receive a printed water bill in the mail, also get six free loads a year. They should bring a current Texas driver's license or state ID showing the Fredville address where the trash came from, along with their Fredville water account number.
Loads from apartments or other homes that do not get curbside or alley trash service do not qualify for free loads and are charged commercial rates.
Commercial customers pay $44 per ton, with a $12 minimum per load, and must show documentation of where the waste was generated.
Anyone, residential or commercial, who wants to drop off clean dirt must phone the landfill ahead of time to book an appointment. The soil will be tested, and the customer must sign a form certifying that it is free of contaminants and hazardous chemicals or materials.
Dirt is accepted only by appointment, Monday through Friday.

- Liquids
- Pesticides
- CFCs
- PCBs
- Any other regulated waste

Fredville residents can buy clean pallets at the landfill for $4 each.
What About Household Hazardous Waste?
The landfill does not take household hazardous waste. This includes bleach, aerosol cans, cooking oil, paint and thinner, medicines, lawn and pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, used motor oil and filters, and car and household batteries.
Several times a year, the city holds free household hazardous waste drop-off events for Fredville residents. Register for an upcoming collection day.
Residents may also take household hazardous waste to the regional household hazardous waste collection center. For details, call the regional HHW center at (555) 010-6088, or see the city's household hazardous waste page.
Christmas Tree Recycling
For two weeks after Christmas Day, the landfill recycles real trees for free as long as all ornaments, stands and plastic bags have been removed. Artificial trees and flocked trees sprayed with fake snow are not accepted. Recycled trees are ground into mulch, which Fredville residents can pick up free at the landfill. Trees set out on your regular collection day will be picked up, but they are handled as garbage rather than recycled.
Drop-off stations for trees that meet these guidelines:
- Fredville Landfill, 2750 Ashcombe Boulevard, Fredville, TX 75999
- A large home furnishings store, 1000 Showroom Place, Fredville, TX 75999
For more information, call (555) 010-5002.
