Step 1: Schedule a Pre-Application Meeting
Before you apply, you must sit down with city staff for a pre-application meeting. This informal session helps you put together a development application for the Planning Division and flags any significant problems your project could face after it is submitted.
The Planning Division will only accept an application once this meeting has taken place.
Staff hold pre-application meetings by online video conference each Thursday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Meetings last 30 minutes.
Step 2: Check the Development Schedule
Applications move through review according to the Development Calendar (PDF, 795 KB). For each review cycle, the calendar shows the submittal deadline along with the meeting dates of the Development Review Committee, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council.
Step 3: Apply
Zoning requests come in two forms. A standard zoning change moves a property into one of the city's established zoning districts. A zoning change with a concept plan rezones a property to a Planned Development (PD) District.
Both kinds are filed online through the city's online permit portal. First-time users need a valid email address to register, which takes about five minutes.
Need help with your online application? Planning Division staff can assist at (555) 010-8724, or you can come by in person.
Step 4: What Happens Next?
Your submittal first goes to the Development Review Committee, which sends comments. The Planning and Zoning Commission and then the City Council consider the zoning change.
The City of Fredville Development Guide (PDF, 807 KB) has more information.
