Planning and Development

Portal update: The city's online permitting portal has been upgraded. Every user must create a new account, including people who registered before April 2025. The new version also adds more ways to sign in.

The Planning and Development Department works to make sure Fredville grows in a well-planned, high-quality way. Staff guide customers through the development process, provide reliable land use information and protect public safety through plan review and field inspections. The department has two divisions: Building Inspections and Planning.

In-Person Public Meetings

Public meetings normally take place in person in the City Council Chambers at Fredville City Hall, 100 Civic Center Drive. If a video conference will replace the in-person meeting or be offered alongside it, instructions for joining will appear in the agenda posted on the Planning and Zoning Commission or Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals page.

Watching Meetings Online

You are welcome to attend in person, follow the live stream or catch a replay later on FVTV. Now and then, technical problems may interrupt a broadcast.

Long Range Planning

A comprehensive plan is a city's policy guide for future development. It gives the city a legal basis for adopting zoning, subdivision rules and other development regulations and for applying them consistently. It also helps the city budget local development dollars, coordinate growth and base decisions on careful research and sound criteria. More about long range planning in Fredville
