Who Needs This Permit
Every fire access control installation needs a permit approved by the Fire Prevention Division and must pass a division inspection.
Step 1. Gather What You Need
Before a fire access control permit can be issued, you will need to provide:
- The manufacturer's specification sheets ("cut sheets") for every piece of equipment you plan to install
- A basic floor plan marking where each piece of equipment will go
- The project address and its legal description
- Contact details for the owner, contractor and architect, as applicable
- The planned use, square footage and area affected
- The class of work, a description, the job valuation and the market value of the property
Step 2. Set Up an Account and Submit Online
Permit applications are accepted through the City of Fredville's online permit portal. To register for the first time you will need a working email address, and creating the account takes about five minutes.
Step 3. After You Apply
Once your online application is complete, an inspection will be set up. Processing takes about 10 business days, and it can take longer if staff need corrections or more information from you.
