Business Health Establishment Information

The Health and Environment Department plays a part in several stages of development review. Staff check everything from cross-connection control devices and four-compartment sinks to confirming that asbestos surveys have been done. The resources below are meant to help your project move through review smoothly.

For an overview of planning and development in Fredville, see the Planning and Development pages. If you are opening a business, the Starting a Business in Fredville section has more information.

Asbestos

An asbestos survey is required by both the City of Fredville and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) before anyone renovates or demolishes a regulated public or commercial building.

Certificate of Occupancy (CO)

A new business, or an existing business under new ownership, must apply online to the Building Inspections Division for a Certificate of Occupancy. The application steps are on the Certificate of Occupancy page.

Commercial Trash Service

Every business must keep trash service in place. As part of the CO application, choose a solid waste verification option and submit the matching paperwork for review by Health and Environment staff. The Certificate of Occupancy will not be issued until this step is complete.
