The Fredville Fire Department protects public safety through prevention programs, emergency response and pre-hospital medical care for the residents, visitors and businesses of Fredville. Its goal is to improve and safeguard quality of life by reducing injuries and property loss, with service that is prompt, reliable and courteous.
Our History
The Fredville Fire Department has served the city for more than a century. It started in 1921 as a volunteer organization, and in 1947 the City of Fredville hired its first paid firefighter. Today the department has 212 paid members.
The city's first permanent fire station opened in 1952 at 140 West Main Street. Since then, Fredville has built a citywide network of fire stations, including double-company and single-company stations, each staffed around the clock by firefighter/paramedics. Every station carries modern apparatus and equipment suited to the area it serves. For major incidents, the department also keeps specialized teams for hazardous materials, dive rescue, swift water rescue, confined space rescue and wildland fires.
